From FAA status for EWR:

General Departure Delays: Due to OTHER: SMOKE/ODOR IN OPERATIONAL QUARTERS AT N90, traffic is experiencing Gate Hold and Taxi delays between 1 hour and 1 minute and 1 hour and 15 minutes in length and increasing.
