Did Singapore Airlines Just Kill the Airbus A380 Jumbo Jet?

Aggiunto

Last week, Singapore Airlines picked Boeing (NYSE: BA) over Airbus (NASDAQOTH: EADSY) for the next stage of its fleet renewal. It signed a letter of intent for 20 777-9s and 19 787-10s Opens a New Window., which should be converted to a firm order soon. Singapore Airlines will also have options for six more of each aircraft type. (www.aviationfigure.com) Altro...

I have never understood the major premise of the 380: that between the major hub cities of the world there was sufficient demand for many hundreds of 380's to operate. I can easily understand 777 demand for emeriates to go to so many cities, but no so much for the 380. I would like to see the true load factors for the routes the gigante flies, for I could be wrong, but I don't think so. I expect to see swarms of 350-900 and 350-1000's, 787 8 and 9's,and 10's, tailoring demand with even longer flights with sufficient load factors.

My flights on the Airbus A380's of Emirates have been nightmares.
Broken overhead air vents and seats that will not latch to name a few problems. Bad quality fittings. I'm not surprised they are going Boeing.

the fittings and furnishings are what the airline orders not always Airbus supply

Cabin furnishings are absolutely nothing to do with Airbus (or Boeing). These are supplied by specialist outside companies to the airline's requirements. For the record my several flights on A380s of Singapore Airlines and Emirates have been the best, quietest and smoothest trips I have done on any airliner, bar none.
