A great photo. In 1960 the CAA (now CASA) was still the Department of Civil Aviation DCA. I was four years old when this shot was taken. DCA operated at least five of these early Aero Commanders in their fleet, which also included a Fokker F27 and a DC3 AND a P166 Piaggio. Also a C310 straight tail.
CHRIS ROBEY You wouldn't have the registration? I searched the web for it, couldn't get any clear photos. Did fly in the F-27, a short journey from East Sale to Melbourne (weekend in Melbourne). Thank you for your comments.
Kurt, did you use a "ND" filter or polarizing filter when capturing this photo?
Hi cliff731, no filters. The camera a ZEISS Contaflex,Tessar 1:2.8 50mm lens and 35 mm slides(likely Kodak)ISO likely 100. Light meter was mechanical link to a read out scale in the view finder adjusting the aperture. The photos I took on that day (like the Fletcher and Ceres)have similar cloud and sky colouring.
Kurt... your ZEISS Contaflex is a very fine 35mm camera. Those clouds certainly pop out against the rich blue sky captured on your slide exposure. I've shot airshow static aircraft with a polarizing filter and ended up with similar sky results. Alas, my poorly done slide scans do not render the original slide well.
cliff731 I have still got the ZEISS. it did take a fine photo.
