I used to be based at Falcon Field, but having moved away it became a spot to visit family and handle business dealings. In October of 2025 I came on one such trip and expected the same service that the previous owner had provided (which was truly excellent and at a fair price). I tried calling and emailing prior to departure to make an appointment but both yielded nothing (no way to know that it was now owned by cunningham). On arrival I found the old owner's name on the side of the building (AVflight) and a line guy came out to the ramp as I sat idling waiting to be assigned parking. He gathered his stuff appearing to get ready to marshal me, but then just didn't. He sat down and just stared at me while I sat idling for 10 minutes. I eventually gave up and parked somewhere and after shutting down he told me that I was in the wrong place and he'd have to move me... I asked why he didn't marshal me and he didn't have an answer. I checked in explaining I'd tried to contact and he said they didn't have access to old phone number/email etc and I got a business card from him after checkin.
A couple days later, I attempt to call the FBO to ask them to have me ready (fueled, and not parked behind anyone as I am in a hurry to get out). I call the number on the card and it is for a scottsdale based FBO... what?? multiple phone calls and multiple misses finally gets me to the right FBO. I make my request to the young lady and uber up to Falcon. When I get there she explains to me that "they can't find my plane". I laugh, and she doesn't. She says "I guess you can go walk the ramp and see if you can find it". I spend a good 25 minutes literally searching for my lost plane. On finding it a good distance from the fbo I find it unfuelled etc so I walk the 1200-1500' back to the fbo and re-request fuel. That takes time and I blast off well behind schedule. I'm shocked to find the non-disclosed fee schedule is multiples of the old FBO (whose name is still on the side of the building)... I write my review and I'm about my business. A week or so later the owner of the FBO calls, he's polite but mostly blames the new acquisition/new employees/stuff for the series of follies and complete lack of service and asks me to take review down. As a business owner myself I can commiserate, but I also try to make things right... not blame my employees. When my business fails it is because I created a climate that could happen and I try to fix my employees, and I try to make the customer whole; I cannot speak to training etc, but no attempt was made to make my experience any better. I thought this was the end...
But lately I have started receiving credit card charges from them... for OTHER people's fuel and FBO charges! I'm not sure what kind of oversight is provided over there, but caveat emptor. At a minimum, if you choose to use them, do not leave a credit card on file! |
