Welshpool, Mid-Wales Airport, lies in the Severn valley, about two miles south of Welshpool town. The airport was converted from a grass strip in 1990 to today's full tarmac runway 1,020m long. The Airport provides a range of commercial air services as well as an excellent General Aviation service for visitors and locally-based aircraft. The canteen is staffed weekends, serving bacon & sausage rolls, plus burgers. On weekdays, it's self-service with vending machines (hot & cold drinks and snacks, plus always selection of cakes).
