McDonnell Douglas MD-83 (N9616G)
N9616G performing what was by far the most spectacular departure of the Roswell boneyard-bound American Super 80s. The Mad Dog waves goodbye to DFW!

I wonder how many of these MD80's are still in service.
A simple internet search reveals ... (Wiki)
"There were 182 MD-80 series aircraft in service as of October 2019, with operators including Delta Air Lines (60)."

My instantaneous first thought, upon seeing the thumbnail:
"crosswind KLSV departure"

These aircraft have been the epitome of dependability for service and the men and women who supported it.
Flew the Mad Dog at AA for 18 years, 12 as captain, out of DFW and retired 15 years ago. Loved that old airplane and I miss her. Every flight felt like putting on my favorite slippers and relaxing. Just a good, solid airplane that never let me down, mainly due to the excellent maintenance folks at AA.
This is DFW?
waynej007, this is from the top of the Grand Hyatt at DFW.
Be sure "click full" is used. A+ shot!!
This is a great photo! I flew on the American MD-80 many times. Its a shame that it doesn't fly anymore.
Great photo! I miss flying on these beauties for sure!
Awesome Pic!
