Beautiful bird! I once had a WW 2 vet tell me that the B-25 was so loud it would give God a headache. A reminder- April 18th will mark the 83rd anniversary of Col. Doolittle’s trip to Tokyo.

Reminds me somehow of this album.

What a history in these aircraft and the men who flew them. I can only imagine what the Japanese must have thought on April 18, 1942 when they heard the roar of the B-25's flying over.

What a sweet aircraft. It was the darling of my childhood.

This photo is at KVNY (Van Nuys, CA) where it was based. An Interesting note about this airplane is that it was used in the film “Catch-22”. Owned by a wonderful man named Mike Pupich at time of photo. I never found out what his business was, but he financed the operation. He told me he bought this plane from the movie company for ~$2000 (not sure when, but I think early 70’s). I’m sure they spent more than that every time they took her out. His very competent crew worked on it as a labor of love. I hope that some of them comment here on things they did and about Mike. I believe the airplane has a new name and is now based in Washington state.

Agree with M. Bodkin, based on the one flight I had in Paul Mantz's photo B-25. It sure was noisy, but I also got to ride back at the rear of the airplane, where the tail gunner's position had been converted to a very open photographer's seat! We were taking pictures of the then-brand-new original Cessna Citation.

An amazing airplane!

Wow! That would have been in about 1971, I can still recall the photo in Flying magazine! The original C500 was a massive deal for Cessna in Wichita KS.

Chris - you got it all right; the date, the photo in Flying and the size of the program for Cessna. Hard to believe how far back that was!!

Thumbs up to photographer. With that low sun great job to not be in the frame. It's about the subject not your shadow.
