Pilatus PC-12 (VH-PIU)
ADELAIDE AIRPORT WEDNESDAY JUNE 15, 2022.
Comments
Although not in Royal Flying Doctor Service livery, nonetheless this is an RFDS aircraft and on this occasion was departing off Rw 23 on Flydoc845, an Adelaide to Adelaide circuit which lasted just under 3 hours.
We're greatly enjoying the photo "variety" of your posts; different angles, different airlines; different aircraft. Your folder is always interesting to sit back and look through because every pic is a new scene. And your pics are like Boss Darryl's or Greg's or Uwe's -- there is an identifiable "background" in them that specifically identifies where you have taken them. Check out Darryl's pics in KBOS. The Boston skyline is in the background of some. There is no doubt that he took his pic at KBOS. And just like his, yours have "background" sights in them that prove you took them at YPAD. That makes them extra excellent. I mean, when there is a photo of an aircraft in an empty blue sky or a cloudy sky and the photog says the pic was taken at a certain airport, how do we know for sure? Pics like those could have been clicked ANYWHERE because blue skies can occur anywhere. Don't get me wrong; I've taken "blue sky' and "cloudy sky" pics and I've shared them, but let's face it; I could take a pic like that and say I took it at KBOS or YPAD (or LAX or SEA, etc) and who would know if I was there or not? And who would even care because that info adds absolutely nothing to the boring photo of an airplane all by itself in an empty sky. So when you (or Darryl, Uwe, Greg or me) have an identifiable background in the pics, it makes those pics far better than an airplane in an empty sky. AND photos with backgrounds in them are MUCH MORE difficult to take correctly. That's another reason we enjoy your photos, Gav. We KNOW they are REAL! (Wave)
Wow, thanks for that Gary. Yes, I'm with you on the blue sky background but as you say, sometimes you do have to get the angle or image that you want. For instance, I got a couple of Dash-8 Q400s earlier in the week but to get prop blur they had to be in a clear blue sky as that was the only angle. Will send some later.
Great shot, Gavin!
Apologies Greg for the very late acknowledgement, but thank you. You may note some comments on a couple of other photogs' pics but I've been very busy and have been off line for a number of days but didn't realize it was that long!!!
