Great photo of an impressive looking aircraft, Kurt
The sensors on the plane are used for geophysical survey work in Australia.
Hi Gavin, thank you. A bit of luck, after departure it did two overshoots. Got it on the 2nd one.
New dart game??
But it is also linked to a sad story: Collision with water involving Cessna 208B, VH-FAY, 185 km NE of Tokyo, Japan, on 27 September 2018
https://www.atsb.gov.au/publications/investigation_reports/2018/aair/ao-2018-065/
which, according to a simple search on the net, was used with the very same detection equipments.

Can anyone explain what the device is between the two main landing gear?
The device between the main gear is a purpose-built magnetic flux detector. It is released from the host aircraft on a cable and the net cone tail keeps it oriented. Other than the likelihood that there is some impressive software interpreting its output, there little more I know.
I'm sure the folks who designed the Caravan never thought of this! Very interesting!
Now that is a crazy rig.
Libelula aerului.
Ioan Popa well described.
