Airbus A319 (N745VJ)

The wind conditions were deplorable. Wind sheer alerts were being transmitted as a NOTAM on the ATIS broadcast and the approach / departure / tower controllers were issuing high wind gust and wind sheer warnings to every arriving and departing aircraft. I was standing airside next to hangars by Taxiway Charlie and I had to brace myself against a hangar door in order to keep the camera steady enough to snap pics. Two inbound Southwest flights aborted their approaches; both made second attempts and one aborted a second time and diverted to Sacramento. The second Southwest (New Mexico One) came through a rainbow and battled heavily gusting wind to get down. The pilots of this Allegheny heritage schemebird were fighting winds that kept this Airbus dropping and rising. (I'm betting there was more than one passenger that filled a puke bag or two because this one was plunging and bucking like a wild bronco.) I had gone to RNO to get captures of Frontier's "Cookie, the Oriole," Southwest's New Mexico One, and this Allegheny scheme. And after I got snaps of those three, I had had enough of being battered around by the wind so I folded my tent and called it a day.

Ive never brought a tent, but great comments and I have been to airports where I needed a bottle of hairspray after.......that would have been great video on that Reno Classic landing in wind.....
