BOEING 737-300 (N365AU) - KSJC - After US Air took over PSA - I had a hard time "liking" this airline - if it wasn't for the Boeing 737-300s I'd probably boycotted their photos. This jet rolling onto 30L for departure to Pittsburg. US Air pulled out of San Jose about a year after they took over PSA....after that, K-Mart moved in and took US Air gates at Terminal A.

Yeah, I can relate --- sorta the same story when AA took over Reno Air. Naturally, Reno Air had a ton of daily flights to/from RNO. When AA bought 'em out and the public outcry revealed much dismay over the loss of a hometown airline and concern for service here, AA made all sorts of promises. "Service will remain the same," "No projected reductions in service," etc., etc., blah, blah. Barely 18 months later AA had discontinued 50% of its service here. Within 3 years, there were only four AA flights daily: two to ORD and two to DFW. Then, a few years back, when AA was going belly up and US Airways had to save American's butt (huge grin >> What goes around, comes around ... lol) , service levels (as "American Airlines") went up but only because US Airways absorbed the American Airlines name along with everything else and US Airways had been serving Reno for many years. And to add one final insult ... "American" unveils some Heritage liverybirds. One is the old Reno Air livery, but nowhere on it does it say "Reno Air." Yeah, Alien, I can relate to your feelings. I feel the same about American. I flew on AA as it was disintegrating (before US Airways sucked it up and salvaged it) and it was awful. Isn't the very best now, either, but WAAAY better than before US Airways salvaged it. ***** snap here, T. TYVM for sharing this.

LOL...!! too funny. I always thought Reno Air was an American Airlines hybrid all along. Loved the Reno Air flights to SJC - the MD-90s were great planes at San Jose, The 30L vantage point years ago was tops for 090s power ups to 30L position and hold.

Same reaction when AA purchased Air Cal in late 80's. Now regional airlines are only good for feeder flights for the legacy carriers.

Yep - Gary, I agree - American has a history of buying an airline and then proceeding to dismantle it. Think: AirCal, Reno Air, TWA. If memory serves, after absorbing AirCal, they leased the old AirCal 737's to Southwest, pulled out of San Jose, and then Southwest established a base in San Jose. Sort of the same thing USAir did with PSA, and at about the same time. This left California wide open to be taken over by SWA.

I will admit I think this was US Air's best livery.
