Ralph Baird
I've been flying since 1971, as an employee of CONOCO and as a part of my work, I sat in an operating the airplane we used to collect digital airborne geophysical data. We recorded magnetic field strength; ground targets documented and gamma ray quantity with a custom built gamma ray spectrometer. I was worried that the pilot was over 65 years old, and had some health issues. If he had an attack in the air in the front seat and I was in the back - I would not have know what exactly to do. So,. .. . . . . I took pilot training lessons in Ponca City, Oklahoma (a wonderful town and hosting Conoco's research departments and personnel. I flew from West Houston Airport (IWS) to Denver (APA) a lot. My flight instructor found a plane for me to buy and I bought a Bellanca Super Viking. I flew to assist sick persons that need safe travel from their home out of state to Houston for the best medical and needed by the person I took to Houston. Our organization is ANGEL FLIGHT. --- Angel Flight missions are coordinated by volunteer organizations that work to match patients with pilots who are willing to donate their time, skills, and aircraft to transport those in need1. These missions serve a vital humanitarian purpose, providing no-cost, non-emergency air travel services for various situations.
