Short Skyvan (OE-FDV)

The Skyvan is a product of the F-4 Phantom school of aeronautical design:
Rule Number 1: "Given enough thrust, even a brick will fly!"

I remember that distinctive Skyvan sound and the strong smell of the jet fuel.

I remember many years ago being a regular passenger in the UK WHEN I did a month on month off in the Marine Seismic Industry.
They are perfect for small cargo flights why make a tube for square objects.
A larger one for Amazons parcels to small airports.

Judging by the tiny wings, I'd guess they are getting some notable lift from the box as well.

Regional airports in NC saw this bird for passenger flights with Piedmont and then US Air. I flew on many of them.

It was an enjoyable experience flying in these regularly over to Vancouver Island in the 80s and 90s
