Great photo Todd!

This Boeing B-29 Superfortress ended in the history books after dropping the first ever Atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. I believe this historic plane is on display at the U.S. National Air and Space Museum.

Unless my eyesight has failed me, this isn't the Enola Gay. Regardless, this is a magnificent photo!!

Great shot and this is Doc, not the Enola Gay.

Thank you all for the positive comments.

I believe it is Bockscar that is on display at the Air Force Museum
Tim Marks
Bock's Car dropped the A-Bomb (fat man) on Nagasaki to end the war 2 days after the Enola Gay dropped an A-Bomb (little boy) on Hiroshima.
But, this is a great photo of Doc from Oshkosh.

Beautiful aircraft

That's one handsome aircraft -- and A LOT of polished aluminum! (... and who's sitting in the blister?) Lastly, if that's Doc, what were the names of the other A/C in the squadron? Cheers, CMSgt Ret.
Craig Massie
Yes this is Doc and it flies out of Wichita Kansas where it was restored. The only other B-29 flying in flying status is FIFI out of Texas. Soon Doc will have its own hangar and facility at Eisenhower National Airport in Wichita, KS.

I thought maybe the squadron would have Grumpy, Happy, Sleepy, Dopey, Bashful, Sneezy, (deputy) Prince Charming, and (squadron commander) Snow White. Maybe the joke wasn't as obvious ...
V/R, Chief Porter
Nice!
What a magnificent flying machine !!
We MUST keep them airborne.

Doc is actually part of a program called "project silverplate" during world war two, they would remove the turrets to make the aircraft faster so it could drop nuclear weapons if you look at Enola Gay it has the same modification. Oh, and nice photo!

Just such a classic bomber, look at all that shiny aluminum. Wonder of .its day

One of my fellow instructors is always quick to remind me that although "Fighters are fun, but bombers make policy." Out.
