It looks like the F35C is progressing. It is going to the USS Nimitz for evaluating with the tail hook. (finance.yahoo.com) Altro...

and other 'auspicious' omens....

One rainy day is USA's next 6 year life!

Still a hunk of junk but kudos to the navy for holding their feet to the fire and making them fix the earlier versions that did not work right.

It reminds me of the OV22 testing. DoD gets so far in that it would be an embarassment for them to cancel.

yep; it actually turned out halfway decent although bunches more expensive than when it started out, kinda like this POS.
Viperguy46
Sooooooo..how many hours do you have in a F35 to classify it a "Hunk of Junk"?
Just asking!

preacher1 3
And yourself. I have flown long enough to recognize a "hunk of junk" when one comes along. It, to me, is ascenine to spend that kind of money in development when #1,the Navy seems well satisfied with what they have and don't want to spend the money, and #2. The F22 Raptor, after all this time, is just now seeing combat for the first time.

Preacher..I agree. The F-35 not needed and is a money pit. A family member of mine is a aerospace engineer and has worked on this project for years and says it is a uphill battle everyday to get this thing to work. She said the F-35 has 20K components...280K parts and 8 million lines of code.

That 8 million lines of code is what bothers me: that is a large scale F117. It would not fly without computer assist. Wonder if this bird will be the same, and what happens in a computer crash?

No way this aircraft flies without computer assist. Computer crash...time to punch.

That's what it sounds like to me.

Actually, it is just a Lockheed ploy to soak the government for an unneeded weapons program.
Viperguy46
Not any in jets, however, are you just making statements or do you have some Democrat Spin play?
Just saying!
preacher1
preacher1 3
No, no spin, and after a few more billion $, it'll probably work, but we got 20 trillion $ in debt right now from crap like this that we don't need. We have inventory right now that will kick hell out of anything else flying. Upgrade the fleets like we did the BUFF and put the rest to decent use somewhere. Navy or Air Force neither one want this thing.
Viperguy46
Absolutely agree.....Go vote tomorrow and maybe things will change! How is that Changy thingy working for you?e
Kick the bums out of DC!
preacher1
preacher1 2
I voted last week and change is needed, especially in Mr. Reid's bailiwick, and I am from AR, one of the 6 states that will help deliver that.

Have you done any background research in the F-35 program or military procurement in general to provide insight into whatever point you were trying to make?
preacher1
preacher1 1
I notice in the story it talks about "the Navy's tepid support". Don't sound like they want the POS either
Viperguy46
I already voted and it took about 10 seconds to just hit the "R" button....never done that before but I'm fed up with Reid, Pillosi and the big O's! Both of them!
joelwiley
joel wiley 2
and by doing so, you have renewed your license to complain!
I voted last month. F-35 was not on the ballot tho'
Viperguy46
You funny.......!!!!! I'm too old to get to fly any longer, however still like the Hanger talk!
Thanks.

PS: Whats better F22 or F35, rant they the same. I like the Marine STOL versus...unless we can just buy Harriers cheaper!
preacher1
preacher1 2
Well, Harriers are cheaper and the F22 is developed and flying. Why spend money for something unneeded
