Southwest Airlines’ Pilots Prepare for Possible Airline Acquisition Amid Speculation
The pilot union of Southwest Airlines, SWAPA, has strategically enlisted the services of several law firms in anticipation of the airline potentially pursuing the acquisition of another carrier. This move underscores the union’s commitment to safeguarding the interests and securing the future of Southwest pilots in the event of a major corporate transaction. Alaska, Sun Country and Avelo are the only names I can think of. I doubt they would want to jump with an Airbus operator unless they're at the point where they are ready to make a huge shift to its culture.
I call BS
Whoever it may be, I can't see the Justice Department green-lighting it. Especially since they recently shut down the Frontier/Spirit & Jet Blu/Spirit tie-up.
Even if they do try, I think Alaska is now too firmly embedded with AA, even more so now that they are in the OneWorld alliance. I could see some significant push-back on that one as well.

And Alaska has this deal with Hawaiian in the works.
The pilot union will declare "unsafe conditions" but those conditions will miraculously disappear when they get a pay raise.
So, is the airline of potential acquisition sorta kinda north and west of SouthWest's Texas home, say maybe as far north as Alaska?? ð
