NASA will soon start testing its first all-electric X-plane

Aggiunto

The first all electric X-plane, the X-57 Mod II, has arrived at NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center in California and is now ready to undergo some rigorous testing. X-planes are the aircraft the agency uses to test and evaluate new technologies -- NASA plans to put this plane's electric propulsion system through testing, with the intention of sharing "valuable lessons learned along the way" in order "to inform the growing electric aircraft market." How terribly green as they shift the CO2 emissions to whatever plant is supplying the power plus all the problems with pollution in the manufacture of batteries. It will be a long time before kerosene is replaced by domestically generated power which cannot keep up with current demand with the limited "renewable" demands in place.

This is research, not the end all solution to pollution. Let it happen for what it is and hopefully it will advance the technology. The refueling vs recharging time is a major issue. Like Tesla's Semi trucks, if you have to stop to charge your losing money unless it is a pleasure trip. By the way, I agree with your hypothesis. There is no completely "green" way to manufacture, and no green way to produce energy, yet. Give it time.
