Transavia #HV5666 diverted to Faro after a man’s body odour caused passengers to vomit

Aggiunto

The Transavia flight #HV5666 to Amsterdam was forced to divert when travellers became distressed by the stench of a man who “smelt like he hadn’t washed in weeks”. The man smelt so bad other passengers started to faint and vomit after the flight took off from Gran Canaria in Spain. The crew tried to quarantine him in a washroom of the Boeing 737 before the pilots were forced to divert the flight. They landed in Faro in southern Portugal so the foul-smelling man could be removed from the flight. (www.airlive.net) Altro...

This whole story struck me as hilarious. Airline travel continues its downward spiral.

And, no-one noticed as he was standing in line to board? And, no-one on the plane noticed as he was walking down the aisle? And, no-one noticed as they finished boarding, pushed back, taxied to departure? Something smells fishy here... oh, yeah, sorry.
Greenjeans
it was noticed, but until he became confined to the seat space, likely everybody earlier figured Not My Problem, until then it did.

The circle of flies should have given it away, if the stench was that bad.

Gosh social media has sure ruined EVERYTHING. Now we can’t even comment on a story about a smelly man without someone taking it as a personal attack and turning vulgar and excessively defensive.

I basically said the same thing, only I accidentally had it in caps, and I have gotten 8 thumbs down!..go figure..my remark was people needed to be more civil to one another when posting, and some were offended..

Something is definitely rotten in the state of Denmark. Oh wait they never made it that far..sorry Portugal.
alexa320
Denmark? Where does that come in to this story? It's destination was clearly AMS - Amsterdam in the Netherlands and Transavia is a Dutch carrier. It ended up in Faro, Portugal. Neither of these is anywhere near Denmark! Enquiring minds would like to know........

Alex, you should brush up on your Shakespeare. I’d recommend reading Hamlet ;)

Something is rotten in the state of Denmark. A line from the play Hamlet, by William Shakespeare. An officer of the palace guard says this after the ghost of the dead king appears, walking over the palace walls.

This is all a bit like the TV news - where the story gets lost in the commentary

He should volunteer to fly in the cargo space. Ryan air likes to use that

The only time I come close to throwing up because of a foul smelling odor is when I pass by a rotting carcase. Was this guy "decomposing" or something? I feel sorry for everyone around him.

More valid reason for the post I made as we were discussing on this very site just s few days ago, the deregulation of the airline industry so that everyone could afford to fly was the worst thing to ever happen to the airline industry.
Bernie20910
Please explain how US airline deregulation has any bearing on this event aboard a foreign carrier operating outside US airspace?

HEY GUYS AND GALS..FLIGHT AWARE DOES NOT FOLLOW RUDE REMARKS, SWEARING OR OTHER SUCH,UNLESS IT IS REPORTED,AND THEN THEY WILL TELL YOU IN A POLITE E MAIL TO JUST CLICK THE REPORT ICON AND ALSO THE THUMBS DOWN..THIS SITE IS SUPPOSED TO BE FOR THE SHARING OF AVIATION RELATED STORIES AND COMMENTS ABOUT THEM,AND NOT FOR PERSONAL ATTACKS ON OTHERS OR THEIR COMMENTS..COURTESY AND CIVILITY ARE NOT THAT HARD..BACK TO THE ARTICLE BEING DISCUSSED..FOR THE MOST PART,IN MY EXPEREINCE, IT HAS BEEN THE FLIGHT ATENDANT WHO WOULD COMPLAIN TO THE AGENTS AND CAPTAIN,BEFORE THE AIRCRAFT LEFT THE GATE, IF A PERSON SEEMINGLY HAD A NOXIOUS SMELL, OR WAS CAUSING PROBLEMS WITH OTHER PASSENGERS BECAUSE OF IT..IF THIS PERSON SMELLED SO BAD HE MADE OTHERS THROW UP, HE MUST REALLY HAVE HAD ISSUES!

We Know! Please don't shout!
watkinssusan
you know what sparkie624...I was not shouting, to begin with, and I was very polite in my comment about civility in posting any comment on here..etiquette is not often practiced by a lot of people whether they are writing or commenting..since this site does not allow for correction without completely erasing and starting over, it is sometimes easier to leave a spelling mistake, or yes, even a posting in caps..hope you have a great day..

an all upper case reply in the internet world is considered shouting and has been that way since as long as I can remember in the 90's.... Upper case is also hard to read and most people won't!

hey..no one is perfect and some of us are "old timers"!!have a great day anyway...

WTF has your comment got to do with this story? We're not talking about cab drivers, or semi truck drivers here, are we? Your feet are apparently squeaky clean seeing as you just inserted one in your mouth.

If you paid attention and quite swearing, you would have noticed it was a reply to linbb NOT you!. WTHeck gave you ANY indication he was replying to you??

Because he did not post to your reply and I do not appreciate fellow posters coming on here and swearing at something they have no need to swear about. THAT is my opinion and a fact!

It was none of your business because he was not replying to you so I made it my business!..if he was , it would be a completely different story, so it is you with the issues and problem...and yes I do know WTF means...any number of 3-4 things!
WeatherWise
Please accept my deepest apologies for ruffling your feathers, Terry. Have a nice weekend.

Terry, I say this with respect... You need to put the shovel down now and stop digging.
terry1
Mr. Behling, I say this with respect to you as well. This has been several days ago. I explained to Weatherwise and apologized to him for what happened. I take full responsibility for what was said, but as was also said, if there were a way to correct or delete a post , this would not have gone anywhere near this far. Now, don't you think it is time everyone got off the bandwagon of "let's slaughter Terry?" and let this post die its own miserable death. At least I, Like you , have the guts to use my real name instead of hiding behind a keyboard with a fake name. Thank you!

You want the post to die, and yet continue with the needles..after what just happened with Facebook, do you wonder why many won't use real names, just to be safe..mine..just call me James..and if you saw u made a mistake, just do what a number of us have done in the past and that is reply to your post and apologize straightaway..all appreciate that.

Oh, I so love the internet. I thank Al Gore every day for creating it!

Why do have to put your 2 cents worth in to every post. Get lost and get off my ass! NOW! You must be sitting in you mommy's basement with nothing better to do. You are actually the one who perpetuated this b.s. in the first place. You have a terrible habit of minding everyone's business?
WeatherWise
As was stated, my comment was directed not directed at you. Why all the hostility toward everyone? Yes, at times I like to post what I would consider a "humorous" response to some of the more lighthearted stories, I wouldn't call them "smart ass". Thanks rapidwolve for at least trying to set the record straight.
terry1
Mr. Weatherwise, When I had realized you were not replying to my comment, and started looking for a way to delete my post, everyone started jumping on my back, thereby compounding the problem. Earlier this week we were discussing basically the same thing about commercial flight experiences going downhill. AS I said, I was trying to figure out how to delete my post after I realized you were not speaking to me, I still don't know how. To you, I apologize. To the others, too bad!
WeatherWise
Hey, I get it, no worries on my end. There's no way to delete or edit comments once they are posted. I wish they would make that possible as it would save a lot of grief!
terry1
You are correct. Especially when posts do not appear in chronological order. I made my post and the next time I looked at it, a post meant for someone else was the following post and I jumped the gun about the reply to, what I thought was meant for me, and it set me off. When I realized they were not in order and I tried to figure out how to delete my post everyone jumps on me. I have never been on a site where a poster could not delete their post before. Then people telling me it is none of my business, and they were not even in the conversation makes me wonder how it became THEIR business.
WeatherWise
One thing I've learned is just not to take it too seriously. I've seen plenty of rude posters come and go on here and it will probably remain that way. I've posted things too that I wish I could have corrected or removed altogether. It happens!
watkinssusan
well, I got thumbs down for just asking people to be civil..i had not intended to have it in caps..keyboard was in that mode and I didnt catch it! oh well..all of you have a nice day!!you are right about not being able to delete.should be some way posted..
WeatherWise
Yep, that's a perfect example. You were assumed to be "shouting". That's when you need to be able to delete or edit. Some folks just like giving the thumbs down no matter what you post!
