I think it is just a matter of time before we have such configurations on the Atlantic. With slot overcrowding the LHR-NYC will probably be there soon. First and Business will be on smaller aircraft to offer more exclusivity. Get ready to moo! Cattle cars they be a comin'!

In a tube. Not inroads.

Hard to tell for sure from the small size of layout illustration, but I sure don't see may toilets for that many passengers...

crazy - cattle cars - and all because of $$$$$

that is an outrageous number of seats, except japanese people are generally smaller than westerners, and if that statement can be accepted as non-racist, that would be nice.
TorstenHoff
How is that outrageous? Emirates puts almost 100 more seats in some of their A380s, and in an all-economy configuration the aircraft is certificated for 853.

That doen't make it less outrageous.
Example: If you know someone is a thief, it doesn't mean that you can steal now without being called too a thief... It just mean that now there are two thiefs.
TorstenHoff
You two must use some alternate definition of outrageous that I am not familiar with. The seating density of the ANA is no different than that of most other carriers, and more generous than any low-cost carrier.

"...the second highest seat density deployed on the type."
Low cost carriers don't keep you pinned in a crammed seat for 10+ hours. I am OK with 1-2 hours.
TorstenHoff
It may be the second highest density in terms of total seat count, but that's because other carriers have more premium or luxury seating, typically on the upper deck.

If you look at the ANA lower deck with all-economy seating and compare it to other carriers with a all-economy lower deck (Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, Thai), then only Thai has a lower seat count, by just six seats:

ANA's offering really is no worse than what other carriers are doing.

Just think about passport controls, security lines, and luggage. Too many people at one time trying to get to the same place. If this was something like a SFO to LAX flight (1 hour) this might work. At least you get rid of the passport issue.
TorstenHoff
The people travel anyway. On the intercontinental routes these aircraft are used on, there often aren’t enough slots available, so super heavies are the only way to accommodate all the travelers.
