Sydney Airport to close observation deck

A real shame, as if the terminal wasnt dull enough already, it brings it closer to LAX and LHR, boring and tedious at the best of times.

A lot of kids who stood there in awe are now pilots.

This was on top of them stopping the airside bus tours they used to run a couple of years ago. Watching an A380 from the deck is OK, watching it take of from just beside the runway - well, that's something else

Spent many hours on the Obs Deck. A great loss to Sydney!

The Perth deck has been closed for years.

The alternative "viewing" area is a joke.

Mate im with you to reply #1 at least you can still have a view at the Maroochydore Airport, for now.

This is really disappointing and lacking in forethought. I love going onto this deck to photograph planes, especially the A380. It annoyed me that you can only see the Northern side of the airport and not the Southern side. Now we will loose all. I don't know where the other suggested locations are but I'm sure there view is restricted, inconvenient to access or too far away. About the only place to see aircraft land coming from the north is the Ikea carpark. When they are coming in from the North.
