uhhhhh no, don't tell them to cut it out....call the FBI or local police 1st and unleash them on the perp...this is akin to attempted murder.
Then after the perpetrator is caught and the laser confiscated, briefly shine the laser in the perp's eye and ask them how it feels...
I have a buddy who fly's Federal law enforcement,(insert identifier), that caught a guy doing just this, on camera. When the police showed up to his door, he really didn't think it was a big deal. He was trying to discourage aircraft from flying over his house. I feel the FAA needs to engage the public about what an enormous safety concern it is to Lase an aircraft. The also need to let the public know that this is a Federal crime that could result in jail time and huge financial penalties. You don't know what you don't know. Common sense is “NOT” common. The FAA and we as pilots need to educate the public. May putting a legal warning sticker on every laser purchased would assist in educating the public. Lase and aircraft, Go to Jail!
Maybe the FBI could use some drones in the area to catch this turkey.
