Broken down evenly over 24 hours that would be over 37 flights per hour and since there are considerably fewer flights during the midnight shift that means a whole lot of red white and blue tails waiting in line for a runway!
Having seven runways should help a bit. :-)
well,i guess congratulations are in order...dfw airport has gone through many changes throughout the years with expanded concourses,new gates,new terminals,new shops and places to east,new seating areas and the like,and all that was before us air took over..then there was the addition of the overhead tram,replacing the old underground one,which really was an uograde..I have been to and through that airport many,many times...you need to wear you running shoes because the connections are not always right next door..!
What happens when you have a bad weather day with severe T-Storms and all of the aircraft and crews and are out of place???
severe thunderstorms in the dfw area are always a threat in the spring and summer months..as a hub for American,it is not a new problem,even with 900 some odd flights a day..the inbounds are usually diverted to other aa cities,the outbounds sit at available gates and are delayed,and if by some chance there are planes out on the taxiwway or tarmac,they just sit there for as long as it takes, or if available gates are found,they return to the gate..been there,done that and know the "ropes"..dfw is also the main crew base,and crewscheduling and tracking handles availability of inbound and outbound cockpit and flight attendant crews for availability...
That should help them consistanty earn top spot on the misery map. ORD should consider this a threat.
