United passenger claims airline covering up 'near-death' incident that almost resulted in pilots being 'sucked out of the plane'
Flight 931 from Chicago to London was forced to make an emergency landing in Goose Bay, Canada only a few hours into the journey after the windshield shattered, the cause of which United blamed on a bird strike. Upon landing, passengers were allegedly required to stay onboard the aircraft for eight hours until a replacement plane arrived. Funny stuff. Airliner cockpit outer pane windows crack all the time and relative to the number of cycles , possible electrical arcing and delamination, the percentage overall is low. While true the outer pane is about 12 mm thiick and the inner 4mm, the inner holds pressurization differential nicely although usually the crew descends to a lower altitude if able. I’ve had two.
