Aggiunto

The average airline passenger leaves behind about three pounds of waste each flight. One British design firm has ideas to bring down that number. (www.nytimes.com) Altro...

When's the last time an airline gave me three ounces (much less three pounds) worth of anything to waste?

I think the 3 pounds figure was pulled out of their butt, but I have a novel idea. How about making it taste better? Then there would be less waste.

That made me laugh a lot.. Thanks for that.

It actually is true, laughs aside. Make the food better and then it wouldn't be left there in the first place.

INTERESTING..the flight attendants on aa used to go around with a bag to pick up newspapers, magazines, and recycleable paper items..not sure if they do that anymore..they also used to have a "grab bag sack" fpr coach passengers on meal flights(no f/c china nor silverware!)that you would pick up as you entered the plane, which had reycleable cups, paper wrapped sandwiches and the like...that was however, before they started literally "selling the "meals" in coach..if you didn't want it,you didn't take it,or you could keep the sack with the food in it and take it off the plane with you..planes aren't big enough for "self serve" coffee and snacks, unlesss they retrofit the lounges somehow that aicraft had in the past!!

It's behind a paywall, so I can't read it but obviously banana leaves are not for eating. They are probably being suggested as a waterproof serving "dish", if I had to guess. I'm not holding my breath on seeing them any time soon though.

If you thought through this before reaching for the keyboard you would probably have figured the same thing out.

It’s not behind a paywall for me, I’ve no idea why. You are right, the leaves can be used instead of plastic or cardboard to make serving dishes. As for not seeing them soon, you might be surprised. Last May I was served a bratwurst and sauerkraut on a dish formed from thin veneer at Frankfurt airport. The idea behind this is to skip the grinding up of wood fibre, process it into cardboard and then forming dishes.

You are also right in suggesting that some people should think things over for a few seconds before going on yet another wild rant.

Oh no. There you go on your speeches. AGAIN.
