Interesting to see what the issue was... things fail on planes... Not sure this one was really news worthy.... Bust have been a slow news day.
This same type of aircraft had a similar issue United 3430 from Santa Fe NM to Denver CO on 7/31/2015. The flight was operated by Trans States and did not divert but left the passengers sucking oxygen out of the emergency masks for over 25 minutes. Paramedics and emergency personnel met the flight after it landed in Denver.
Sounds like poor maintenance to me and these are the only recent incidents. This one was not reported in the press

One of the local TV outlets, WTHR-TV, Channel 13, the NBC affiliate, reported that the plane experienced a pressurization issue which "Caused it to plummet 10,000 feet". Gee, no sensationalism there. Who knew pressurization held the plane up ? Kind of like a balloon, I guess. #mediaidiots
We all know that the Media is idiots.. Like that one that reported on a Republic flight that it was only the "Backup Engine" that failed on Takeoff and required a return to field... I about choked on my drink when I heard that that one...
