Gentlemen: The last I knew this was an aviation website, not a political one. Please try to discipline yourself from making political comments. Thanx!

there is little good that can result from this. BOth sides will harden their positions to the detriment of economies on both sides of the Atlantic. BOth sides have subsudized their aircraft and engine design industries- both for high skill jobs and supplier employment too. That is commonly called industrial policy- both have done it, both will do it in the future, and both are supposed to wink-wink-nod at the other's actions as they expect the same. This is stupid, ill-considered, counter productive, and alllies do not do these things to fellow allies/friends/trading partners. What needs to be changed, in my humble opinion, are the laws and regulations that make these actions actionable, and must be removed at once. Trade wars cost jobs and loss of sales and loss of trade- very preventable, when both parties have unclean, dirty hands

The European governments have long given advantages to Airbus and roadblocks against Boeing through financial manipulation. Trump did his best to level the field with tariffs on European goods sold in the USA. The EU governments are thinking Beijing Biden can be bought on the cheap and have the US tariffs removed.

What they really should do is build more competitive planes, and they would not need the government help to sell Airbus iron.
