Here goes another knee jerk reaction to a flight crew who habitually neglected to do pretakeoff checklists. Had they done so, this accident wouldn't have happened.

I mostly agree as I religiously exercise the full range of control motion but there is still something smelly about the ability to get throttle range of motion but no flight controls. Not supposed to be that way.

like I said in a previous post: If you start the engines with control lock on, then take the lock off, without depleting hyd. press: you run the risk of hydraulically locking the flight controls, the throttles will operate normally. However, you are correct, always do a control check and it is in the checklist.

Well, flying the same aircraft all the time it is easy to get complacent or bypass some things on the checklist at times but control locks aren't one of them. That said, I am like your post above. Why was power able to be applied with locks on? That is a Grumman thing. Didn't they make a correction and offer a retrofit after this accident?

Plus don't overlook that the spam came an entire day AFTER the original squawk linking to the NTSB source material/ live webcast.
