this series of malfunctions/misconstructions is not contained- it is public and very bad news of rolls royce and boeing, and no perfume in the room will remove the stink/
It took them this long? The engine issues have been known for a long time and this is Boeing's first attempt?
Correct me if I’m wrong but what about Pratt and Whitney engine issues on the airbus A320neo. I don’t think airbus is stepping up to the plate to help Pratt and Whitney fix there engines. At least Boeing is saying enough is enough we are here to help are supplier and customers avoid distruptions. Yes it took this long I agree but a good manufacture will step in and help when needed.
While Boeing´s efforts to help solve the engine problems are commendable, there is little it can do besides stepping on RR´s toes and calling them to task. The problems can only be solved by RR and since there is no question that it is a fundamental and serious design flaw, it is going to take a lot of work: fistly designing new parts where there seems to be an harmonics issue (at least this is what I read sometime ago or whatever the roots are), then the suggested solutions Will have to go through a lot of testing before they can be pronounced as a reliable and then they will have to modify the hundreds of engines out operating. Shall we say all of this taking 2-3 years from now. In the meantime one can only assume that the liability/guarantees/warranties lawyers for the affected airlines are already into high gear going after RR neck. Thou shalt not rush a new product onto the market unless it has been proven 200% reliable.
