MESSERSCHMITT Me-262 Replica (N262AZ)
This incredible machine came in here for an air show. A first time for me to see one and, flying at that!
Comments
What make is this aircraft. It has the clean lines of a Heinkel, but I don't think it is.
It's a ME-262, "White 1" powered by J-85's.
From the information that I have, this is replica of an Me262B-1a/U1, without the prominent aerials on the nose of the a/c for the FuG RADAR systems employed on the original aircraft. Brilliant photo!
Yes, it is an ME-262 B-1c, built in Texas, owned by the Collings Foundation. You may find more about it here: http://www.collingsfoundation.org/ma_me262.htm
Built in Everett, Washington http://www.stormbirds.com/project/
another flying Me-262 can be seen at ILA in Berlin, Germany this month at the new BER Airport in Berlin-Schönefeld.
