This particular aircraft was delivered to the USAF on 10/6/1955 where it initially flew for MATS. It subsequently flew with the W.V. ANG, MISS. ANG, and finally for the S.C. ANG. It is obviously not an 'E' version, but was, and has always been a cargo/people hauler. My best guess for the 'E' is simply that it is a typo. Either way the Connie is the most beautifully designed planes of all time. (I spent 7 years on the 'H' model)
