With the jet at idle, and and the props near 100%, it was basically hovering in the vertical. I'd like to see the climb rate on this thing! This guy performed at the Hill AFB (UT) Airshow a couple weekends ago.

Weird indeed.

Another really weird design was the Nazi Blohm and Voss BV 141(it never made it into mass production). A reconnaissance aircraft with the cockpit on one wing - quite asymmetrical. Not sure how to post a picture - easy to Google up.
