It reminds me of my first flight from Rio de Janeiro to Sao Paulo. The company was Panair, which was a branch for Pan Am.

Being a avid DC-3 fan. I have a handmade 1/100th scale Pan Am Airways DC-3 model, but with the last colors they had which was with white fuselage and blue letters and logo's. This one obviously pre-dated the last colors Great photo and it has to be rare.

Back in the 50's I used to fly on Bonanza Airlines DC-3s from the Imperial Valley California to San Diego once a month for medical treatments. That aircraft will always have a special place in my heart. Thanks for the beautiful photo.

I used to regularly fly Ozark Airlines DC-3s from Kansas City to Moline. They regularly started rich and the engine/wing would disappear in the smoke.

This appears to be a C-47 with the astrodome and then converted to DC-3 after the war. Further inspection reveals a picture window aft on the port side - likely this was a converted corporate bird after it's service in the military and now is shown in PanAm livery. This one had P&W engines while earlier pre-war version with AAL had Wright engines and door on starboard side. Flew one as F/O with Wrights back around 1976.

When I was 5 years old, my mother would fly my brother and me out of Jefferson City, MO on Ozark in a DC-3 to Bloomington, IL to visit our grandparents. Along the flight, it would stop at Quincy, IL. We would sit for about 30 minutes with no announcement for the stop and then fly the rest of the way to Bloomington. She asked the flight attendant why the stop and the attendant said the pilots would stop for lunch. The next time we flew, the same stop occurred at Quincy and mom hustled us off the plane.Inside the terminal we ate lunch next to the pilots!
