In an industry where triple redundancy is the norm, the 747 has four hydraulic systems.
For many years, Qantas operated a fleet of exclusively 747 aircraft and still flies them over some of the most remote routes on the planet.
Airlines around the world have phased out the 747 because they claim it is uneconomic to operate on passenger services. But freight operators can still justify new 747 aircraft.
It defies logic.
