The poor media -- they didn't get a juicy story. Never ceases to amaze me how stupid these people really are. Just because a plane, and a small one at that, makes an off-airport landing they expect the worse. From the looks at the height of the corn, braking was not a problem!
Looks like they might have landed with the gear up. In a deeply furrowed field it can be easier on the airplane and passengers. I'd say they did good from the looks of the plane.
