So Luft means air in German?
Air means Luft in german language
Nice shot Uwe!
I admit I'm not a native German speaker, but I believe a "Goose" in German is a "Gans." And I've always believed that the "Hansa" in Lufthansa is more along the lines of "Hansa" as in the "Hanseatic League." Per Wikipedia:
"The Hanseatic League (also known as the Hanse or Hansa; Middle Low German: Hanse, Deutsche Hanse, Latin: Hansa, Hansa Teutonica or Liga Hanseatica) was a commercial and defensive confederation of merchant guilds and their market towns. Growing from a few North German towns in the late 1100s, the league came to dominate Baltic maritime trade for three centuries along the coast of Northern Europe. It stretched from the Baltic to the North Sea and inland during the Late Middle Ages and declined slowly after 1450."
"Hanse, later spelled as Hansa, was the Middle Low German word for a convoy, and this word was applied to bands of merchants traveling between the Hanseatic cities whether by land or by sea."
But I could be wrong.

Hi Greg!!
you are absolutly right!
the " HANSE " was a trading Company between many cities in Europe in the Middle Ages.Big cities working together, Hamburg, LüBeck, Bremen, Rostock Danzig and also Leipzig in the middle of the Germany!
They work, grown up and safe Money together.Between this cities no taxes no toll!!
Now Lufthansa means our biggest german flight Company with the cranec symbol!! A Long time ago " Condor", also with the cranec sticker was a daughter oh Lufthansa!! But today " Condor " is our biggest hollyday charterflight company.
